    Why do people in the comments consider them Ethiopians? Even though they were literally hunting them. As for the script, I don't think it's descended from Punic. The Garamantes were in contact with the Egyptians, and there's a recent document in hieratic with a Berber text. So it's possible that this Libyco Berber script is descended from there. And their language could be a kind of proto-Berber. We'll have to wait for genetic research to tell us.

    A new subscriber here! So this means that the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Persians/Parthians, and the succeeding Germanic Tribes since then already knew the existence of the Indian subcontinent and the lands beyond if they would just go further Eastwards. Therefore, Asia was and is really known to them but only has a different name in their linguistic perspective.

    During the anLysis of the Great Mound at Emain Macha, near Armagh, it was suggested that the stones piled inside the 'Great Hostel' circular structure came from some earlier burial mound. As such, they represented the 'souls' of departed ancestors. And, the act of setting fire to the circular structure sacrificed them to "The Gods" for the benefit of the tribe or "tuath". This act might have been the origin of the story of the 'Wicker Man". This was raised in one of the papers about "Emain Macha' in "Current Archaeology", No.134, Vol.12, No.2, p.46-9. Sadly, this ingenious propsal haas yet to be tested by discussion or other specialists in the period.

    This is wrong interpretation, it was Rome and Greece that created Civilisation, while China and Indians copied and used their Military and other technology to become a country. Small time Kings in both China and India, that copied the Greek military conquered their neighbours and the first so called China and India was established. Just like Japan copied Western tech and invaded Asia, or like Russians copied the West and conquered the East. Same principle. China or India was in no way equal to Greece, they imitated the Greeks and that is the beginning of philosophy and culture in India or China, nothing prior the Greeks is of any significance in Asia.

      @@drraoulmclaughlin7423 Right, From Wikipedia"The only contemporary information available on Porus and his kingdom is from Greek sources, whereas Indian sources do not mention him.These Greek sources differ considerably among themselves" Greek historians or travelers, like in later times Marko Polo often wrote fantasy fiction to created interest and fascination among the readers, for instance Herodotus wrote "iIndia was the glittering if inchoate land of riches, in which gold-digging ants are to be found, of which everything east of the Indus was composed only of sand" Show real archaeological Indian art, architecture, infrastructure, technology or even written books or works of literature or philosophy that predate the Greeks by a hundred or few hundred years, you will show nothing, because there is nothing. Same in China, little records on bones, with child like toy size sculptures. Rome and Greece civilisations were highly advanced due to the population beings highly focused and well organised this was caused to a large extent by the fact that they spoke languages with Intense Alarm sounds, see for instance, Greeks ua-cam.com/video/JcBCjRu9C4U/v-deo.html or Romans in more details ua-cam.com/video/diQpUB8ykk8/v-deo.html

      @@chris10hi Then what do you think about the Terracotta Army? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terracotta_Army

    • @chris10hi
      @chris10hi 3 місяці тому

      @@drraoulmclaughlin7423 @drraoulmclaughlin7423 Hi, in my opinion there are two aspects that need to be considered. The first one is that technology usually has a history of development, where there is trial and error and gradual improvement. For instance, Egyptian pyramids have a history of development, where we see early versions and with time the builders become better until they reach their peak of the craftsmanship and then there is a gradual decline and end. When it comes to terracotta worriers there is no such record, they suddenly appear and disappear. So it is likely that it is an imported or borrowed technology, however its not natural to the society and it is no longe applied. The second aspect is that a number of centuries prior to the terracotta worriers we have Greek settlements in Bactria, area where the greeks are known to have built 100 wealthy cities, that Alexander the Great liberated from Persian control. See for instance en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Greek_Kingdom#:~:text=Greeks%20first%20began%20to%20settle,of%20the%20western%20Anatolian%20peninsula. The second aspect is that Greeks had presence in the area of current Afghanistan a number of centuries prior to Alexander the Great, and their cities and art is present, one can see their presence in what is called Gandhara, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greco-Buddhist_art Part of Greek sculpture technology that exited centuries earlier than Terracotta worriers is the Moulds for mass production of statues that the Greeks did I clay and later bronze, are remarkably similar to what was done with terracotta worries. There is no evidence that such technology has ever evolved independently in china, the worriers appear and the technology disappears. See for instance the moulds in the program Power and Pathos,. See ua-cam.com/video/HpZka21Y6xA/v-deo.html

    This is a free translation from Lucan's text with additions reflecting the modern world, but nevertheless the insights of the myths are intriguing. The translator likes Star Wars and Dune mythology. A myth provides insights not facts about complex echoes of the past. So, it can not be used to provide us with an account of space war at the end of the first century CE. The account provides more insights about the efforts of the Romans exploring Africa, the Atlantic, and the Indian ocean. The Roman fleet of Laelius and that of Agrippa circumvated Africa. Trajan with his Indian Ocean fleet gave the Roman hegemony of the lands along the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean via diplomacy between 113 and 117. The account provides the length of the journey to the St. Lawrence gulf (about eighty days) and may echo real journeys. Juba, the ruler of Mauritania, explored the Atlantic Island and via Strabo provide hints about a place called the Antipodes. Nero's centurions brought back information about the African great lakes, which are echoed in Ptolemy's Geography.

    Did Byzantine merchants reach China? Yes, but it was rare (two episodes are know from Classical and Byzantine sources and Chinese sources discuss Christian populations in Chinese ports)! Did Roman or Byzantine nationals travel to Japan? They probably did, but it must have been rarer than travelling to China? DNA would likely preserve this type of information. With vaster samples of Japanese and Chinese DNA data banks, this will likely be proven. It will likely be shown to be similar, but larger than the Beothuk DNA contribution to Icelandic and Norwingian population (one Beothuk woman had 200 descendants in both countries) and Polynesian DNA (prior to 1450) imput to the populations of Panama and Columbia (about 2000 people from at least 10 individuals). I would not be surprised if at least 500 to 1000 individuals contributed to the DNA of Chinese and Japanese (between 27 BCE to CE 600).

    Only one Roman emperor probably attacked Ireland in response to raids in 303-305. Constantine's fleet in 306, 310, 311, 312, and 314 may haved raided the eastern coast of Ireland (see Rance, Philip. "Epiphanius of Salamis and the Scotti: new evidence for Late Roman-Irish relations." Britannia 43 (2012): 227-242 and Eusebius' Panegyric of Constantine and on coins of this period). Could have Agricola's fleet not done the same or that of Hadrian?
